PREIN
Exploring connections between specific cultural phenomena, fiction and the quotidian, Gianna Virginia Prein's (b. 1990) artistic practice lies between written pieces, moving image and installed objects. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and University of the Arts London and holds a diploma in scenography. Currently she is finishing her studies in Literature as Art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.

The bunker, as protective armor, is integrated into the landscape. Used strategically, it’s a sign of a contraction, of a tightening of defensive resources which have to be ef cient and therefore fast, faster than... The mussel contracts as soon
as it senses a threat and closes its carapace immediately. Just in case it reacts too slowly, the inside of its shell dazzles in order to blind the invader. Similarly ambiguous linguistic phenomena break down a spatial vision. In the furious standstill of their transmission speed, they oscillate between being used and acting for themselves.
